Big Mushy Happy Lump

I am a lump.

A big, mushy, happy lump. – Sarah Andersen

Why I’m reading it?

I was looking for a light read and what can be more lighter than comics? I’ve read this author earlier in ‘Adulthood is a Myth’, and I was so smitten that I gifted my copy to my sister. I would have given more copies to everyone in my life, if I was a little richer. As soon as I became aware that there is a second book, I dived right in.

My Review…

This book is second comic collections from Sarah’s Scribble, the webcomic where she illustrates her daily life in quite witty, frank and bold way. It’s in continuation of her first book, where she introduces this girl who is socially awkward, hard core introvert ,pet lover and happy in being left alone . She shows this girl’s personality when no one is watching her and that personality is very endearing. Through numerous comic strips, reader get a glimpse in this girl’s life which is sometimes outright hilarious.

In this book, she also illustrated personal essays and has shown a little growth for girl. I sensed that she is not so awkward now and is trying to fit in. She still likes her privacy but now liking company (humans not pets!!) as well. She is in a stable relationship and has cute interactions with her beau.

My Rating – 3

On the scale of: (1- Hate , 2- Neither like nor dislike, 3- Like, 4- Love, 5- Gaga)

My first book rating was 5 because I simply loved that book. However, I liked this book just fine. Although comic is still good, I sensed that Sarah has matured a little here. And hence I couldn’t like it better than the first one.

Why anyone else should read this Book?

First, because its a comic, comic always transport me to my childhood. May be it does the same with everyone.

Second, being a comic, its a super fast read. You would finish it before you realize. One more step closer to your reading goal, huh? Pretty tempting!

Third, if you are into drawing illustrations, read it. It’s a great inspiration to start your own comic. I want to, but I’ve too many commitments right now. I’m motivated nevertheless. 😉

Finally, character of this book is lovable and laughable. You can’t stop yourself. Give yourself some love and laugh, and read it now.
