All my friends are dead. (Series)

“I’ve 3,284 friends…

I’ve just never met any of them face to face.”

― Avery Monsen and Jory John

Why I’m Reading this Book?

These books are from second category (Illustration) in the Omaha public library challenge for 2021. Name of these books were very fascinating considering these are children’s books. And that’s what made the choice for me to read these books as part of illustration category.

Synopsis

Existential quandary of different subjects are illustrated in a dark humorous way. Various snippets of these subjects not necessarily linked tells the reader about friends and friendship on a very dark note.

My Review…

These books are for someone who can appreciate dark humor. Different subjects like dinosaur, person, trees, sock, chicken, milk, plant to name a few, tell us very sadly about their friends. Some are outright amusing. Name of the books comes from a snippet where a dinosaur says very sadly ‘All my friends are dead’.

Second book is a kind of continuation to the first one and doesn’t offer anything new. But both of these books are so ridiculously small, you can read both of them in 15 minutes tops.

I’m not sure how are these a children’s books though, because I see sarcasm at adult level. But anyways, as someone who likes dark humor, it was a good time-pass. My favorite conversation was between tree and the end table.

My Rating — 3

On the scale of: (1- Hate , 2- Neither like nor dislike, 3- Like, 4- Love, 5- Gaga)

Why anyone else should read this Book?

As mentioned, books are so small, that I read them in 10 minutes.

If you appreciate snarky humor, this is a book for you. There are some amusing bits here.

And lastly, if you are also chasing a challenge, and this book is there somewhere, you can go for it for some light , amusing and refreshing read.

Stay home, Stay Safe!!!
