Why I’m Reading this Book?
I’ve been referred to this book by my brother Piyush Sharma. He came across it as one of his reading suggestions and this book passed with flying colors. Name also suggests novelty, so I decided to read it.
Synopsis
Story of a couple battling with rat infestation and their own quirkiness.
My Review…
Story is really refreshing. It starts with a shock. First few pages where different ways of dealing with Rats are described are almost physically painful to read. But writer takes an unflinching look into the ‘humane’ ways of doing away with rats.
Once a rat with more humane way was trapped, couple spirals down to a hole of comic cause and effects incidents. Story turns outright hilarious by every turn of the page. All characters including cats (Brown cat one and two) , cops, farmers and even trapped rat are funny.
In its comedy, there are moments of irony and cynicism. But that’s what comedy is..right? A way to say serious things in non-serious ways. Hypocrisy of city councils, weirdness of ‘different’ people, self-righteousness of country festivals (this one was my favorite), and dilemma of rat-catching.

I’ve liked this story and author so much, I’ve included her other works in my reading list already. That’s how much I liked it.
Why anyone else should read this Book?
Just 78 pages. Can’t hurt anyone. Give it a try.
Actual comedy. No complicated matter, pure joy. I felt happy after reading this and was smiling for an hour (no kidding). We need humor in life, so go read it.
Hope these are enough reasons to pick a book and give it a go. This is one of those books, I can recommend even to a non-reader.
